This intermediate listening exercise is all about preferences. Food, movies, weather. Nariss talks about what she likes, what her best friend likes, and how different people enjoy completely different things. It is a natural, everyday monologue that gives you real exposure to how Thais express opinions and personal taste.
Listen to the audio first without reading the script. Then come back and follow along with the Thai text, romanization, and English translation below. Pay attention to the question tag “เนอะ” (nér), which works like “right?” or “isn't it?” in English.

English Translation
“Hello, how are you? Today is a bit too hot, isn't it?”
“Do you like hot weather? For me, I prefer the weather when it rains more. But some people don't like rain at all.”
“Have you ever noticed that each person doesn't like the same things?”
“For example, when we talk about food, I prefer strong-flavored food. Mostly when I go to a restaurant, I usually order very spicy Pad Kra Pao (stir-fried basil).”
“But my best friend prefers mild food. She complains every time she sees me eating spicy food.”
“She likes to eat soup, clear vegetable soup, or steamed fish, things like that. Very different from me!”
“Not just that. When it comes to movies, the two of us like completely different things. She likes watching Thai movies, comedies, or horror movies.”
“She goes to the cinema very often. She says that watching movies at home and at the cinema feel different.”
“While I am crazy about action movies, plot-twist movies, or sci-fi.”
“The thing my best friend finds strange is that I prefer to watch the English version with English subtitles.”
“But for me, it's not strange. When I listen to English, it feels like watching a movie and studying English at the same time. And how about you, friends? What do you like to eat, and what movies do you like to watch?”

The word “เนอะ” is a soft question tag used at the end of a sentence to ask for confirmation or agreement, similar to “right?” or “isn't it?” in English.
